Using Cinch For Quick Audio

Most of you know that first and formost I am a podcaster. I love the audio medium. Back in the day (2005) I used a computer, mixer, mic and various software to share my message on the web. Fast forward a few years and now I am doing almost the same thing with an app on my iPhone. Recording a podcast or interview is as easy as pushing a button on my phone and so is posting. I can upload a photo, show notes and cross post to Twitter and Facebook. Talk about making things easier.

Granted, I am giving up editing, intro and outro music and all manner of possibilities when I forego post production. However, the ease of having my show audio up quickly and easily has made me a believer. For folks who are still sitting on the sideline when it comes to podcasting, I challenge you to give Cinch a try. You’ll become a fan of audio with a few taps on your screen.

Here are some of audio posts I did while I was at South by Southwest #SXSW last month. None of these audio posts were planned. They were all serendipitous. I was able to take advantage of the opportunities as they presented themselves. Imagine being able to do something like this at events or with your clients? The possibilities are endless.

We are on day 10 of National Podcast Post Month and I thought I would take the time to share my thoughts on the experience. When I came up with the idea to interview NaPodPoMo podcasters, I had a pretty good idea of what to expect…or so I thought.

Larry is joining us for his first National Podcast Post Month, however he’s no stranger to podcasting. He was part of the original pioneering podcasters who helped pave the way for the podcasting masses.

Larry’s show for NaPodPoMo is called Behind the Wheel and is part of his The Magnum Life podcast http://themagnumlife.com/

Listen in to get this podcasting pioneer’s take on the evolution of podcasting, what it takes to get started and where his new show is going. (I’m still holding out for an “On The Road Restaurant Review” segment).

You can connect with Larry on Twitter @lrh, Facebook http://facebook.com/…ryhendrick and LinkedIn http://linkedin.com/…ryhendrick.

On day 8 of National Podcast Post Month, I interview Luis Sandoval, Jr. who now has 1 year of podcasting under his belt. He jumped into the podcasting realm with Tech in Twenty (which we co-host) and the Media Minute.

Luis talks about what podcasting has done for him and how he is moving forward. As is the case with most podcasters, Luis has branched out to several podcasts and has plans for several more.

His wife, Angel has started her own podcast for NaPodPoMo called Domestic Goddess Lessons. http://domesticgoddesslessons.blogspot.com/ It would appear that podcasting is like a cold. Hang around long enough and you just might catch it. 😉

You can connect with Luis on Twitter @LuisSandovalJr as well as on his blog The Daily Slackr http://dailyslackr.com/

Open Letter to the San Antonio Podcasting Community

To My Fellow Podcasters:

Creating and being a part of the San Antonio Podcasting Group has been an amazing experience. It started as a way for me to find local podcasters to share my excitement about, what at the time was, a groundbreaking medium.

It’s been 4 years since those humble beginnings back in September 2005. So much has happened since then. We fired up the early adopter tech/geek crowd and have done some first time events here in San Antonio. From our small group the New Media/Social Media Community was born.

From PodCamp to BarCamp to TweetCamp we have been pioneers involved in building what is now a wonderfully diverse and vibrant community. Pat yourselves on the back for being part of the group and making things happen.

As New Media evolved to Social Media we have been using the Meetup site less and less. What was once a chatty message board has become as silent as a library. It’s not that we aren’t still interacting online, however the location for our conversations have been happening on Twitter and Facebook.

There doesn’t seem to be a need for us to continue to host the group on Meetup. As we are well aware, Meetup charges organizers a fee to host a group. As the use of the Meetup platform has become anemic, it appears there is no need to continue with the group in it’s current form.

There are plenty of places for us to host our group outside of Meetup. There is Ning http://ning.com and even Facebook has a group feature. We still have the SA Podcasters blog site which Nathan Lott and Leslie Baldwin have been heading up for the last year.

I propose we allow the Meetup group to close and continue the conversation on either Ning or Facebook. I believe Ning allows us more features as well as an extremely feature rich platform. It’s my first choice, however I know that for the most part we are all already on Facebook so adding a new group to our existing profiles would be easier. I’m willing to go either way.

I won’t miss Meetup. I will miss interacting with you, my dear Podcasting Buds. Knowing you has enriched my life immensely.

Thanks for joining the fun!

Cheers,
Jennifer Navarrete
